Somma by Chef Mirko Febbrile has opened in New Bahru, offering a modern Italian dining experience within one of the trendiest lifestyle hubs. The dual-concept restaurant spans two floors and includes a fine dining space, pasta and cocktail bar, and Somma Lab. Set in the former Nan Chiau Girls High School library, the upper floor features an intimate 36-seater dining area, while the lower floor provides a more relaxed atmosphere with a pasta and cocktail bar. Febbrile, known for his work at the popular Fico, brings his Puglian heritage to Somma, but with a creative twist on traditional Puglian dishes.
At the fine dining restaurant, guests are treated to a six-course menu that reflects Febbrile’s culinary journey, merging his experiences in Puglia with global influences. His meticulous approach includes sourcing seasonal ingredients directly from Italy after extensive research and visits to local producers. This focus on high-quality, fresh ingredients is central to the refined yet inventive dishes served at Somma, offering diners a deeper exploration of modern Italian cuisine in an elegant, contemporary setting.
The design of the restaurant complements the culinary experience, with the space featuring barrel-vaulted ceilings and Italian craftsmanship. Febbrile collaborated with artisans to incorporate Italian stone, leather, and concrete tables, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming environment. The pasta and cocktail bar downstairs serves handcrafted pasta dishes paired with creative cocktails, ensuring a well-rounded dining experience that pays homage to Febbrile’s Italian roots while introducing new and exciting flavors.
