Viral bakery brand Shio & Sato has launched a new pop-up café at The Centrepoint, complete with dine-in seating for up to 20 customers. Known for its soft, fluffy shio pan—a Japanese salted butter roll—the café allows fans to enjoy these popular bakes fresh in-store. This marks a more extended run compared to previous pop-ups at Tree Storey (The Star Vista) and Tom’s Palette, both of which lasted only a month and drew overwhelming crowds.
Shio & Sato is the second concept by Genevieve Lee, runner-up of MasterChef Singapore and founder of Sourbombe Bakery. While she first made waves with her sourdough doughnuts, her passion for baking led to the creation of this new venture dedicated to shio pan. Pop-ups at Takashimaya and The Star Vista saw long queues and sold-out trays, cementing the brand’s growing popularity. The current location at The Centrepoint is expected to remain open until January 2026, giving fans a much longer window to savour these sought-after treats.
The café’s cosy interior is styled with warm wooden accents, creating an inviting atmosphere just a four-minute walk from Orchard MRT. Doors open at 12pm, though queues often begin before then, and popular items tend to sell out quickly. To manage demand, purchases are limited to six pieces per customer. The current flavour lineup includes Original, Kombu, Truffle, Chocolate, Tamago, and Green Chilli Onion—each offering a unique twist on the classic Japanese roll.
