Oozy, golden creamy eggs on rice are on the menu as Running Egg, Bangkok’s viral TikTok egg rice, arrives in Singapore.
Yes, you read right: It’s not an omelette, not scrambled eggs – it’s the running egg of perfectly half-cooked yolks doused over rice and a plethora of add-ons. Running Egg features authentic recipes as crafted by the original chefs from the popular Bangkok restaurant, bringing the true flavours of Thailand to your table.
It serves up platefuls of golden goodness in four iterations from the original Bangkok restaurant – Prawn, Chicken Basil, Pork Jowl and Grilled Pork – along with a Singapore-exclusive Luncheon Meat. Each dish consists of no less than four eggs rendered to the perfect creamy texture, offering exceptional value for money. To achieve the perfect balance of flavours, the recipes have also been slightly altered to meet the local palate with less salt.
Running Egg is founded by ex-banker Harold Tan and his fervent love for eggs. His pursuit of the perfect egg experience has led him to Bangkok many times over the years, where he found the holy grail, this running egg rice dish, that recently exploded all over TikTok at the restaurant Hereduan. Packed as it may be with queues that snake around the block, every table featured this running egg dish that is incredibly popular among locals, who come in a steady stream and unfailingly order it every day from opening hour till closing time. One taste and Tan knew he wanted to be the first to bring a taste of this incredibly simple yet immensely satisfying dish to Singapore.
Tan left his corporate banking job four years ago to follow his gastronomic passion of being in the F&B industry. His daringness has resulted in the successful operation of Roxy Square Kopitiam and launch of Wagyu X Steakhouse in 2023. For Running Egg, Tan draws from his wide network of connections not only to get in touch personally with two chefs from Hereduan for the authentic recipe of the dish, but also convinced them, Booddee ‘Pond’ Jatturong and Areeya ‘Nun’ Arinual, to join him in Singapore to launch Running Egg together.
Taste a true serving of Thailand’s runniest, gooiest, creamiest eggs with four items hailing from the original restaurant in Bangkok and one Singapore-exclusive. The prices here are not only more affordable than in Bangkok, but the recipe and flavours have also been carefully refined through extensive tastings to suit Singaporean palates. Every ingredient — from the eggs and rice to the condiments — is imported directly from Thailand, ensuring an authentic experience. Each plate is also made with four premium Thai eggs, offering exceptional value for money.
