Havelock II may not be the first place that comes to mind for café-hopping near Chinatown, but Pour.traits by Nooq Collective makes a compelling case for the detour. Occupying a corner unit on the ground floor, the space is sleek and intentional — dark green counters, a long bar, and front-row stools that place the spotlight squarely on the coffee craft.
As the name suggests, this is a coffee-first concept. Expect a focused menu of espresso-based drinks, rotating filter brews, and artisanal teas, alongside a concise selection of desserts such as focaccia, banana bread, Earl Grey Basque cheesecake and tiramisu. Rather than functioning as a full-fledged brunch café, Pour.traits keeps food in a supporting role, allowing the beans — and the barista — to take centre stage. Weekly bean rotations ensure there’s always something new to explore, and the coffee flight is a thoughtful way to sample the range.
Run by Elaine, a former barista competitor turned judge, the café brings serious credentials without the stiffness. The seating may be limited, but that only adds to its intimate, specialty-counter feel. It’s the kind of spot where conversations about flavour notes come naturally — and where coffee isn’t just served, but properly showcased.
