Mami’s Tamales has introduced Asia’s first tamale pop-up restaurant in Singapore, adding a unique flair to Keong Saik’s vibrant dining scene. Led by Chef Maribel Colmenares and Chef Mauricio Espinoza, the pop-up offers a festive, home-cooked experience enhanced by authentic Mexican artwork. The menu features a variety of tamales, including traditional options like Chicken Tinga and Pork Salsa Verde, as well as Asian-inspired creations such as Ayam Sambal Hijau and Curry Tempe.
In addition to tamales, Mami’s Tamales offers a selection of Mexican-inspired starters, indulgent desserts, and a distinctive cocktail menu that blends traditional Mexican flavors with creative twists. Diners can enjoy dishes like Mami’s Esquites and Chalupas Poblanas, followed by a sweet treat like the Mexican Dark Chocolate Quesadilla, all while sipping on inventive cocktails.
Mami’s Tamales is the latest venture from Chef Mauricio Espinoza, affectionately known as Chef Papi, who is also behind the popular Papi’s Tacos. Together with Maribel Colmenares, a Mexican-born chef who has called Singapore home for over a decade, they bring their passion for home-style Mexican cuisine to this pop-up. The name Mami’s Tamales is inspired by Maribel and her signature tamales, much like how Papi’s Tacos was named after Chef Papi.
