After faithfully serving up delectable zi char delights to Singaporeans since the 1970s for over 50 years and through three generations, Keng Eng Kee Seafood (or “KEK Seafood”) is proud to celebrate the milestone in January 2024 with its third outlet in SAFRA Punggol. Renowned for their constantly evolving and innovative zi char dishes, the third generation-run restaurant celebrates Singapore at its latest 160-seater outlet with a photo-worthy interior.
The latest outpost pays homage to this storied history of KEK Seafood as a restaurant from Singapore by Singaporeans. Showcasing Singapore’s marvelous development through the years, the latest outlet brings icons of Singapore’s urban landscape indoors so that diners get to dine amidst and reflect on Singapore’s rapidly changing façade.
Diners can roll back the years with a nostalgia evoking mural depicting scenes of children playing on the grounds of the iconic Dragon Playground that many Singaporeans grew up with, with childhood games painted such as marbles (goli), hopscotch, and vibrant Peranakan Shophouses. The murals in KEK Seafood – SAFRA Punggol are the works of local artists Sufian Hamri, popularly known as “TraseOne”, an interdisciplinary artist who has been featured numerous commissioned art projects located throughout Singapore as well as in exhibitions locally and globally; and Tiffany Yao, whose works can also found across the island, brings her distinct artistic touch. With multi-culturalism and family building being the pillars of the sprawling metropolis that is Singapore, KEK Seafood brings together a blend of uniquely Singapore motifs that will resonate deeply amongst Singaporeans.
