Jeonpo Meat Shop is the latest addition to Singapore’s ever-growing Korean BBQ scene, located right next to Amoy Street Food Centre at the junction of McCallum Street. Brought in by Gold Moon Restaurant Group—the same team behind Seoul Noodle Shop and Tonshou—this nostalgic Korean barbecue joint draws inspiration from the old-school diners found in Busan’s Jeonpo district. With bright yellow signboards, retro-style metal doors, and Hangeul-covered windows, the restaurant’s design evokes the charm of a Korean drama set. Inside, the ambience is completed by signature metal tables and chairs, familiar to anyone who’s dined in classic Korean BBQ joints.
Despite its distinctly Korean aesthetic, Jeonpo Meat Shop originally hails from Hong Kong, founded by a Korean restaurateur with more than four decades of culinary experience. It currently operates seven outlets across Hong Kong, with its Telok Ayer branch marking its first venture into Singapore. Jeonpo joins a competitive dining enclave with neighbouring heavyweights like Go-KBBQ, Wang Dae Bak, and Um Yong Baek. Yet it distinguishes itself with traditional Korean barbecue cuts, such as king-cut beef short rib, flower-cut pork belly and collar, and the tender, marbled beef brisket—a popular choice to start the meal.
In true Korean BBQ fashion, the experience at Jeonpo Meat Shop isn’t complete without a serving of their signature kimchi fried rice. Priced at $14, the dish is prepared table-side with aged kimchi, assorted vegetables, cheese, and the restaurant’s special house sauce, all stir-fried with leftover meat on the hotplate. A playful finishing touch comes in the form of mayonnaise art—whether it’s a Kakao Friends character or a simple heart. With its nostalgic charm and authentic flavours, Jeonpo Meat Shop is poised to become a go-to for fans of K-drama-inspired dining and hearty Korean barbecue fare.
