Alcohol aficionados are in for a treat as JAPAN RAIL CAFE has brought on board Isego Honten, an established Japanese liquor and spirits company and sake retail space and bar hailing from Tokyo, Japan. This collaboration marks Isego Honten’s inaugural foray into the international market, with an impressive selection of over 300 Japanese spirits becoming a permanent fixture in JAPAN RAIL CAFE’s retail section from May 2024. Many of these spirits will be introduced in Singapore for the first time and are now available to the public.
Established in 1706, Isego Honten is a reputable local liquor store celebrated for its wide selection of Japanese spirits encompassing mainstay and seasonal sake, shochu, whisky, gin, and craft sake from 50 breweries across Japan. What sets Isego Honten apart is its unique direct connection with the breweries, allowing for exclusive imports and a deep understanding of the alcohol they sell. By fostering close relationships with brewers, Isego Honten’s team gains valuable insights into the brewing process, enabling them to share rich knowledge with customers. This direct connection also enables the procurement of exclusive products, offering customers a truly unique experience.
With in-store sommeliers armed with years of sake tasting expertise, customers can expect personalised recommendations and exceptional service. Furthermore, Isego Honten is committed to high-quality standards, ensuring each bottle is handled with meticulous care, maintained at a temperature between 5°C to -5°C from brewery to shelf, guaranteeing optimal condition of the alcohol. As such, customers visiting the store in Singapore will expect the same exceptional experience as they would in the original store.
In alignment with JR East Group’s objective to promote sake as a cultural and historically- significant aspect of Japan, this collaboration seeks to both educate the public about Japanese culture and tradition while fostering interest in traveling to Japan’s lesser-known regions.
