Melbourne’s popular Thai-style dessert café, Homm, is set to make its debut at Raffles City Shopping Centre on October 16. Known for its unique bingsu and shokupan desserts with a Thai twist, Homm has gained a loyal following since its establishment in Melbourne in February 2023. Founded by Chiang Mai-born Chayathorn Sakdatorn, also known as Bass, and his wife, Praewthip Saithai, the café offers a 40-seat space where meticulously crafted desserts take center stage. Homm’s signature dessert, the Thai tea avalanche bingsu, along with other innovative treats, promises a sensory experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
Homm’s desserts draw inspiration from popular Thai café culture and Praewthip’s travels during her time as a Singapore Airlines cabin crew member. The menu features items like taro bingsu, caramelized shokupan with pandan kaya, and a selection of gelato mochi and cubed bread with various dips. The beverage menu includes refreshing options like Thai milk tea, butterfly pea tea with mango passionfruit puree, and espresso-based creations. Chayathorn highlights the detailed research that goes into each dessert, focusing on the interplay of flavors, textures, and aromas to create an elevated dining experience.
Homm’s entry into Singapore is facilitated by local F&B company SL Food Industries Holdings. The café shares a space with Go Unique, a spin-off of Go Noodle House. Beyond Singapore, Homm has plans for rapid expansion, with outlets set to open in Sydney, Perth, and a fifth Melbourne location by 2025. Chayathorn and Praewthip envision turning Homm into a global brand, driven not only by their passion for desserts but also by their commitment to creating growth opportunities for their team as the business continues to evolve.
