Fans of Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu can now rejoice, for the Japanese beef cutlet specialist is opening a second outlet on 22 August 2025, at One Holland Village! Regulars can now run to this new restaurant, bypassing the constant stream of diners always lining up at its first Singapore outpost at Raffles City. In addition, One Holland Village, with its vibrant energy, diverse mix of tenants and cluster of synergistic Japanese F&B brands, is another perfect enclave for Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu.
At this new Holland Village location, Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu – the largest gyukatsu speciality restaurant from Japan – will bring the same menu, flavours and high quality beef. Relish these golden cutlets of thick, succulent beef, each tender with perfect marbling on the inside and crisp with satisfying crunch on the outside. Sets begin at a wallet-friendly $25++ for the Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen, which includes free-flow rice, cabbage, and a variety of sauces to pair the juicy beef cutlet with!
A Master of Medium-rare Beef Cutlets
Founded in Kyoto in 2014, Gyukatsu KyotoKatsugyu has grown into the largest gyukatsu speciality restaurant from Japan that draws long, snaking queues back home for its exemplary gyukatsu. These are beautifully crisp, medium-rare beef cutlets, perfectly marbled within, that can be further seared to one’s desired doneness on a personal konro (traditional Japanese earthenware grill).
Handpicked from choice cuts of prime beef, the steaks are first coated in a koromo batter made from a secret blend golden ratio of bread crumbs, flour and egg wash. Then, skillfully deep-fried to medium-rare perfection at a precise temperature in fresh oil that’s changed daily to yield clean, crisp flavours. This masterpiece is finally impeccably presented in set meals alongside curated condiments that enhance the best characteristics of the selected gyukatsu cuts.

Must-order Cuts
For the quintessential gyukatsu experience, order Gyukatsu KyotoKatsugyu’s Signature Half-and-Half Gyukatsu Zen set, which offers the best of both worlds. The set features a choice mix of Sirloin paired with either Tenderloin, Beef Tongue, Chuck Flap, or even prized Miyazaki A5 Sirloin.
The Sirloin is a classic Kyoto Katsugyu Gyukatsu cut that is both tender and juicy, achieved only by precisely cooking the meat at a low temperature to lock in all the succulent beefy goodness. The Tenderloin offers a lean protein option, while the Chuck Flap uses the rare cut haneshita, a flavourful, and tender cut that’s well-marbled with rich juices. Those who crave the more uncommon Beef Tongue will love the thick-cut buttery meat with a satisfying chew.
Or treat yourself to the prized Miyazaki A5 Sirloin, a premium, exceptionally marbled beef that has won Japan’s Wagyu Olympics multiple times. All sets come with rice, cabbage, Aka miso soup, Kyoto-style curry, spicy chilli miso and signature onsen egg.
Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu elevates its beef cutlets even further, with its specially crafted complementary condiments and sauce. Dip your gyukatsu in Kyoto-Style Curry, dab on a bit of Fresh Wasabi or crack a Signature Onsen Egg over it. Alternatively, add a dash of Dashi Soy Sauce to increase the umami factor, sprinkle on a bit of Sansho Pepper Salt for that citrusy punch, or drizzle on a bit of Gyukatsu Sauce. Last but not least, sip on Aka Miso Soup, which uses red misofor a hearty, yet gentle aftertaste.
Non-beef sets are also available, which include Seafood Katsu Zen ($32) featuring carefully hand-prepared large, plump shrimps, fresh scallops and a salmon cutlet that is juicy and rich in fat. These are coated with specially ground raw breadcrumbs for a crispy texture. Veggie lovers will want to order the Yasai Tempura Zen ($25). This is a crisp and flavourful option where the greens are carefully selected and meticulously hand-prepared in-house.
The Vibe of Japan
Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu brings the same Japanese experience to its new One Holland Village restaurant with an intimate space entrenched in the roots, culture and design inspiration from Japan. Like the Raffles City outlet, the space is generously lit with lanterns, evoking the famed Noren and Gion Matsuri festivals that are synonymous with Kyoto. They are translated into a casual atmosphere of an everyday Kappo restaurant to welcome diners from all walks of life looking for authentic, unpretentious meals. Comfort and needs of customers are at the foremost of consideration with refined furnishing and warm fixtures, promising memorable visits with each meal.
