Named after a beloved golden retriever, Good Boy George is a charming new addition to Robertson Quay. This pet-friendly café blends art, culture, and community, reflecting founders Wei and Merlin’s vision for a welcoming space. The diverse menu offers dishes like duck fat potato rösti for breakfast, truffle mushroom pasta for lunch, and beef bolognese for dinner. Weixang Tan, a musician and educator, and his wife, Merlin, created this café to celebrate their love for good food and drinks, inspired by their furry companion, George.
Inspired by the vibrant café scenes of Europe and Australia, Good Boy George is designed to attract guests from dawn until dusk. The café provides excellent coffee, hearty meals, and affordable drinks, catering to early risers, day drinkers, and night owls alike. As day turns to night, the neon sign playfully marks the transformation from Good Boy George to Bad Boy George, inviting patrons to enjoy the evening.
Launching Good Boy George has been both a challenge and a thrill. Wei and Merlin emphasized community involvement, ensuring that everything from the coffee to the artwork—sourced from local talent—reflects their commitment to the neighborhood. Guests are warmly invited to relax, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere, with the chance to meet the café’s namesake, George.
