Taiwan’s celebrated wellness soup restaurant frequented by celebrities, Fu Hui Gen Tang, is bringing its unique dining experience to Singapore for the first time this February.
For four decades, Fu Hui Gen Tang has dedicated itself to perfecting its signature soup, cultivating a loyal following of all ages in Taiwan. More than just a meal, the restaurant offers a unique culinary wellness ritual designed to provide busy individuals with a restorative escape from their hectic lives.
Fu Hui Gen Tang is a testament to 40 years of culinary wisdom. It was co-founded by Professor Wu, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, who discovered and spent years researching on Fu Hui Gen, a prescription of 50 Chinese medicinal herbs from the three divine physicians of the late Eastern Han Dynasty (Hua Tuo, Dong Feng, and Zhang Zhongjing). This prescription was originally designed to maintain the health of emperors, imperial concubines, and healthy individuals.
The formula adheres to the principles of the five viscera, five colours, five orifices, five flavours, and the interrelationship and counteraction of the five elements, achieving a golden ratio for optimal absorption by the body. It is suitable for any constitution and season and is not heat-inducing. Intriguingly, the same pot of soup can taste different to each individual – varying from sweet, bitter, tingling, sour, and salty – reflecting their unique emotional and physical state for a truly personalized and interactive dining experience.
Fu Hui Gen Tang inherits the imperial dietary culture of the Eastern Han Dynasty and integrates ancient methods and refined modern technology to offer this nourishing recipe to more people around the world. It complements its nourishing soups with specially curated dishes designed to maximize the health benefits of the ingredients. The restaurant also enhances the wellness experience with a dedicated space for customers to rest and rejuvenate between courses.

Liquid Gold of Health
Fu Hui Gen Tang’s soups are renowned for their restorative properties, stemming from a meticulous and laborious “九蒸九晒” (nine steaming and nine sun-drying) process to achieve optimal purity and balance. Each serving is brewed with 50 varieties of hand-selected traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, imported from Taiwan. Among these are 14 key ingredient pairings, carefully chosen for their synergistic medicinal benefits:
- Agarwood & Ganoderma Lucidum to help calm the mind and soul,
- Safflower & Ginseng to promote blood circulation and disperse blood stasis,
- Ligusticum Striatum & Schisandra Chinensis to solidify “qi” within the body and nurture liver and kidneys,
- Polygonum Multiflorum & Rehmannia Glutinosa to replenish blood and promote longevity,
- Astragalus & Atractylodes to smoothen the flow of “qi”,
- Eucommia Ulmoides & Morinda Officinalis to restore and repair “yang qi” and replenish essence in blood,
- Asparagus Cochinchinensis & Ligustrum Lucidum to restore and repair “yin qi”.
The herbs are handpicked over a 60-day period at their peak ripeness, specifically avoiding the rainy season. After harvesting, the herbs are exposed to the morning mountain dew of their respective localities to activate their potency. They then undergo a traditional nine-cycle sun-drying and steaming process to soften the herbs, release their essential properties, and maximize their medicinal effects. Finally, the herbs are steamed for 24 hours to reactivate them before being simmered and cooled nine consecutive times to achieve unparalleled purity.
On the Menu
Experience the restorative power of Fu Hui Gen Tang’s soup—a ritual in itself. The restaurant recommends savouring three bowls (600ml) before a meal, on an empty stomach, to maximize its benefits. This practice represents: entering the liver for detoxification, entering the spleen for nutrient absorption, and entering the kidneys for storage.
At Fu Hui Gen Tang, patrons can choose from curated individual set menu or à la carte options. The individual set menu includes three bowls of Fu Hui Gen Tang (chicken), black fungus with vinegar, celtuce, white braised pig trotter, vermicelli with egg white, and a dessert of the day, priced at S$108 per person.
