The moment we’ve all been waiting for: Food Junction at Junction 8 returns with an exciting concept that features a nostalgic 80s Retro Diner that segues to a Japan Street tucked at the back of the space; with a total of 17 new and exciting food partners.
Welcome to Singapore’s original thematic food atrium, where highlights include the revival of a Food Junction legacy at Shabu Bar, and the viral Korean cold noodles from Myung Ga II Minipress. Look forward also to Cha Han, Akashi Group’s first garlic fried rice concept in a food atrium; and Zhang Ji Yun Jiao with its authentic, freshly handmade Shandong-style dumplings. In addition, there will also be Grand Opening promotions that include a sure-win gachapon machine with exclusive prizes to be won!
This is also a double celebration, as Food Junction at Junction 8 marks over three decades of Good Eats and Good Beats. The food atrium’s design brings this to life, instantly transporting diners to vibrant 80s Singapore with the charm of an American retro diner complete with a traditional jukebox, vinyl-inspired furnishings, and old-school cushioned booth seating. Even stall employees dress in classic diner uniforms, so every visit feels like stepping back in time.
And as you wander deeper into the experiential casual dining space, the scene shifts. Tucked in a cosy corner lies the nostalgic entrance of a traditional Japan Street inviting you into an intimate culinary journey. Here, six indulgent Korean and Japanese food stalls await, each offering authentic flavours and heartwarming dishes that complete the experience – a seamless blend of past, present, and the joy of food.
Staff are also in on the party – stalls at the Retro Diner will be decked in the classic retro diner uniforms while stalls at the Japan Street will wear the traditional Japanese Chef uniform.

While Chinese egg-fried rice can be found almost everywhere including food courts, the Japanese version often served in teppanyaki restaurants or steakhouses – garlic fried rice – is less common.
Aptly named Cha Han, which means “fried rice” in Japanese, Akashi Group brings its beloved garlic fried rice to a food court for the first time.
