Born over a year ago out of Chef Antonio Miscellaneo’s personal crusade to find exceptional Italian food for delivery, Casa Vostra has been known to transport restaurant-standard perfection to homes with its ready-to-heat gourmet Italian cuisine. Now, the popular homegrown brand has evolved from a takeaway and delivery concept to a full-service restaurant, finding a new home in a 2500 sq ft space at Raffles City, taking over the former McDonald’s location. This July, fans can enjoy Casa Vostra’s gourmet pizzas and home-style Italian dishes in a comfortable dine-in setting.
Authentic Italian cuisine at its finest
Casa Vostra remains as a partnership between Chef-owner Antonio Miscellaneo who owns Singapore’s No. 1 Pizzeria La Bottega Enoteca, and F&B group Ebb & Flow, which also manages contemporary Asian restaurant Tribal and One MICHELIN Star modern European restaurant Sommer. Currently, Chef Antonio sits at 57th in the list of World’s Best Pizzas and his pizzas at La Bottega are ranked 15th in the Asia-Pacific. Together, their new brick-and-mortar restaurant promises a stellar dine-in experience with Casa Vostra’s Newpolitan® and Doublecrunch® pizzas served alongside a new range of gourmet home-style Italian fare at affordable prices.
From house-made pizza and pasta to house-cured charcuterie, every item on the menu is made from scratch using the best ingredients sourced and imported directly, free from preservatives and artificial additives such as MSG. This meticulous control from start to finish ensures superior quality and affordability, with no dish priced over $30. Diners can also witness the magic firsthand with the live pizza and pasta-making stations.
Home is where the pizza is
The menu continues to be headlined by Chef Antonio’s trademark Newpolitan® Pizza (from S$15 – S$28), a pizza that is a one-of-a-kind result of strenuous in-house research and development. Rooted in tradition yet improved through modern techniques, the Newpolitan begins with a mix of select Italian white and brown flours, made into dough and fermented through different stages and temperatures for a total of 36 hours. The dough is further shaped by master pizzaiolos and baked in a wood-fired oven at 460C for a base that’s crispy, airy and scioglievole – or melt-in-your-mouth all at once. Casa Vostra’s Newpolitan® still shares certain characteristics as the Naples-style pie that gained UNESCO heritage status in 2017 – both are cooked above 450C and feature charred, bubbling crusts and are softer and floppier than most pizzas.
Taste them in best-selling red sauce classics like the Marinara, a pizza topped with San Marzano DOP, garlic and oregano as well as the Margherita with San Marzano DOP, Fior di Latte and basil. Bolder flavours are available like the Gamberi that comes with generous San Marzano DOP, Argentinian prawns, tomato and prawn reduction, and lemon zest, and the Diavola, a spicy choice with San Marzano DOP, Fior di Latte, spicy salame made in-house, Parmigiano Reggiano and basil.
White sauce icons include the likes of Tartufo e Funghi topped with Fior di Latte, Taleggio, mushrooms, thyme and finsihed with a generous helping of fresh black truffle shaved tableside, and the Mortadella that borrows the best flavours of Fior di Latte, mortadella, pistachio, lemon zest and basil. Cheese is rich and generous with the 4 Formaggi comprising Fior di Latte, Taleggio, Gorgonzola and Parmigiano Reggiano. Meat lovers will revel in the Sausage e Friarielli that has lashings of smoked provola, sausage, broccoli rabe and Parmigiano Reggiano.
There’s also the Doublecrunch® Pizza (from S$16 – S$22) that draws inspiration from the traditional Pala Romana. The particular mix of 0, wholewheat and durum flours, 48-hour fermentation and lower temperature baking yields a high-hydration pizza dough that stretches to create a thin and bubbly texture, forming pizza that is lighter and crispier, perfect for rich fillings. Enjoy authentic Italian ingredients sandwiched between two croccanti – crunchy layers of “pizza pastry”. Akin to a pizza-sandwich hybrid, this is the unorthodox pizza you never knew you needed.
The perfect taste of it can be found with the Caprese of Fior di Latte, roasted tomato, basil pesto and parmigiano toppings, the Prosciutto e Parmigiano loaded with parma ham, Parmigiano Reggiano and Mortadella serving up burrata, mortadella, pistachio, lemon zest, basil and Parmigiano Reggiano.
