Bakery 1946, known for its whimsical fruit and vegetable-shaped buns, is opening its first permanent store in Singapore at Suntec City in June 2024. After its popular pop-up events at Bugis Junction and Tanglin Mall, fans will finally have a permanent spot to enjoy their delightful creations. The bakery will bring back favorites like the Sweet Potato Bread, filled with sweet potato paste, and the K-Apple Bread, an apple-shaped bun with chunks of apple and smooth cream cheese for a unique texture. Another simple yet delicious option is the Corn Bread, a chewy treat with sweet corn kernels.
Renowned in Korea as Suhyeongdang, Bakery 1946 offers a variety of Instagrammable bakes that have garnered a loyal following. The K-Apple Bread, also known as DaeguNeunggeumbang, is a standout item. This hyperrealistic apple-shaped bread is filled with fresh cream cheese, apple jam, and juicy apple cubes. Other creative bakes include the Sweet Potato Bread, which mimics the appearance and texture of a sweet potato, and the Whole Chestnut Bread, filled with delightful chestnut and hints of roasted coffee. For those with a taste for savory, the Garlic Manju, featuring a whole garlic balanced with creamy white bean paste, is a must-try.
In addition to these unique offerings, Bakery 1946 will feature a range of other decadent treats such as the Black Sesame Cream Cheese Bread, Black Sesame Peanut Crumb Bread, and the Original Daegu Sweet Red Bean Bun. While the specific menu and prices for the Suntec City location are still to be announced, previous pop-ups offered over 55 different types of bread starting at $2.50 each. Bakery 1946 is set to become a must-visit destination for bread lovers looking to indulge in both classic and inventive flavors.
