Zouk Group goes French with its latest culinary concept, The Plump Frenchman, now open at Guoco Midtown in Bugis. Marking the group’s first foray into French cuisine, this soulful 70-seater brasserie is helmed by two-Michelin-starred chef Lorenz Hoja, formerly Executive Chef of the acclaimed L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Singapore. With this new venture, Hoja trades white tablecloths for warm-hearted comfort, serving up rustic French fare at accessible prices—bringing the joy of slow meals and shared plates to the heart of the city.
The menu balances indulgence with approachability. Think Coq au Vin slow-cooked in red wine with mushrooms, Demi Poulet Rôtisserie paired with pickles and sriracha, and starters like chorizo-stuffed chipirons and a deeply savoury onion soup. Dessert brings a refreshing twist with the Tiramisu au Citron, brightened by citrus. It’s familiar, feel-good French food, made with flair and soul.
Interiors channel the easy charm of a retro brasserie—cane-back chairs, tiled floors, and ambient lighting set the tone for lingering lunches or evening wine sessions. With its mix of nostalgic flavours, relaxed elegance, and thoughtful service, The Plump Frenchman offers a refreshing take on French dining in Singapore: comforting, convivial, and just a little bit cheeky.
