Australian dessert brand Gelato Messina is set to make its Singapore debut in April 2025, bringing 40 ice cream flavours to its new store in Chinatown. Known for making everything from scratch—including its own dairy and chocolate—Gelato Messina has built a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. Although the brand has yet to make an official announcement, hoarding with the Gelato Messina logo has appeared at the junction of Club Street and Cross Street, featuring a QR code that links to a local website and mailing list.
Founded in Sydney in 2002, Gelato Messina has distinguished itself by avoiding premixes and mass-produced flavourings. The brand prioritises traceable, high-quality ingredients, going so far as to acquire its own dairy farm for creamy Jersey milk, as well as hazelnut and strawberry farms. Chocolate is crafted in-house at its Sydney facility using single-origin Ecuadorean cacao beans. Today, Gelato Messina operates outlets across Australia and has expanded internationally with two locations in Hong Kong.
If the Singapore store follows the model of its sister outlets, it will offer 35 regular flavours and five weekly specials. Popular classics include pistachio, pandan and coconut sorbet, pear and rhubarb, and tiramisu. Specials, such as Mr. Messina—a fior di latte gelato with smashed cheesecake and pretzel fudge—and You Cannoli Live Once, featuring pastry cream gelato with pistachio fudge and cannoli shells, are available for a week after being announced on social media. Beyond gelato, Gelato Messina in Australia also offers gelato and semifreddo cakes, chocolate bars, spreads, and seasonal creations like Easter eggs and advent calendars.
