Chef Stephan Zoisl, renowned for pioneering the Western Omakase concept at Chef’s Table over the past decade, has returned with an exciting new venture that brings together the bold flavours of Europe and Japan. His latest culinary creation, Chef’s Tavern, is now officially opened to the public.
At the heart of Chef’s Tavern is a unique dining experience that blends both familiar and innovative flavours, creating a culinary adventure that expertly merges Japanese influences with European comfort food. The restaurant’s inventive menu combines the zest of European cuisine with Japanese elegance, all infused with Chef Stephan’s Austrian roots for a truly exceptional dining experience.
“From the age of 9, I was already in the kitchen helping my parents run their restaurant in Innsbruck, Austria, and immersing myself in Austrian culinary traditions. My career then took me across Europe, the United States, and eventually to Southeast Asia, where I developed a profound appreciation for Japanese and Southeast Asian flavours. This unique combination of experiences inspired me to fuse these vibrant influences with my love for European cuisine, ultimately leading to the creation of Chef’s Tavern,” said Chef Stephan Zoisl.
The Menu
For lunch (from 18 March 2025), Chef’s Tavern offers a premium Tavern Style Teishoku set that promises both satisfaction and great value. Chef’s Favourite: Our Bar
Another standout feature of Chef’s Tavern is its vibrant bar, designed with a modern oriental tavern vibe. The Fusion Izakaya-style bar menu showcases signature dishes from the hot kitchen along with a selection of unique appetizers and tasty home-style snacks.
Happy Hour is a highlight, with daily specials from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, offering $9.90 pints of ice-cold Japanese beer or Japanese whiskey highballs.
Chef Stephan remarked, “One of my most memorable experiences during my first visit to Japan was discovering the vibrant Izakaya culture and its incredible food. This inspired me to incorporate a similar tavern atmosphere into my new venture. By blending these diverse influences with my passion for European cuisine, the idea of creating a vibrant Tavern where both locals and visitors can feel at home was born.”
Private Dining Rooms
For those seeking a more intimate dining experience, Chef’s Tavern offers private dining rooms ideal for special occasions or events. The rooms can accommodate up to 16 guests, with the option for one larger room or two smaller rooms of 8 guests each.
