Paradise Group, a leading force in the Singapore culinary scene with over 100 establishments worldwide, proudly unveils a momentous partnership with Oriental Kopi, a beloved Malaysian coffee shop that has drawn long queues for its authentic Nanyang cuisine. Oriental Kopi’s first overseas outpost is slated to open in Singapore in Q3 2024. This is the first-ever joint endeavour by Singapore-based Paradise Group in expanding its strong portfolio of culinary concepts
This strategic partnership marks a pivotal moment for both entities. For Paradise Group, this inaugural joint venture solidifies the Singapore-based restaurant group’s steadfast dedication to the preservation and celebration of culinary traditions. For Oriental Kopi, this collaboration paves the way for international expansion, as the Singapore outlet will be its first foray outside of Malaysia. Mr. Edlan Chua, Chief Operating Officer of Paradise Group, said, “We are thrilled to embark on the group’s very first joint venture with Oriental Kopi. Its commitment to quality resonates deeply with Paradise Group, and we are confident that it will be a well-loved concept by Singapore diners. Together, we can proliferate the culinary traditions of Nanyang cuisine in Singapore and beyond.”
Dato Calvin Chan, Group Managing Director of Oriental Kopi, shares the enthusiasm for the collaboration. He remarked, “Joining forces with Paradise Group represents an exciting chapter in our Oriental Kopi story. We are confident that Paradise Group’s proven track record, robust business capabilities and unwavering dedication to culinary excellence in Singapore’s F&B industry will propel Oriental Kopi to greater success.”
Recently featured on the New York Times Square Billboard, Oriental Kopi has captured the hearts and palates of diners across Malaysia, evident by the long lines that form outside its stores. Its patrons include day-trippers from Singapore, who cross the Causeway for this foodie highlight.
From a single coffee shop in 2021, Oriental Kopi today boasts over 14 outlets and two merchandise stores in Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, and Selangor. Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, Paradise Group will bring Oriental Kopi to Singapore shores, with the first outlet planned to open in Q3 2024 in a prime location. A total of eight outlets are planned to open over a span of three years.
Must-order signatures include the eponymous Oriental Kopi, a full-bodied Nanyang-style brew made from a “golden ratio” of top-quality Arabica, Robusta and Liberica beans. Variants include Kopi Butter, that invokes a rich, caramelised flavour, the mellow White Coffee; or enjoy the aromatic beverage ice-cold, served in a dramatic, tall glass.
Diners also flock to Oriental Kopi for its award-winning Signature Egg Tarts, which are creamy and crispy with every bite, thanks to its lush egg custard and flaky exterior. In fact, these handmade confections with premium French butter are lauded in the Malaysia Book of Records for “Thickest Egg Tart” and “Most Number of Egg Tarts Sold”.
Other traditional delights include fragrant Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam, and crusty yet fluffy Oriental Polo Buns that can be elevated with a slab of icy-cold butter and condensed milk. Oriental Kopi’s polo buns have also earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records for “Most Number of Polo Buns Sold”.
