Apple has unveiled plans to invest over US$250 million (S$340 million) in upgrading and expanding its Ang Mo Kio campus in Singapore. The company aims to revamp two buildings acquired in 2022, adjacent to its existing offices, to create three innovative spaces fostering greater collaboration among its growing teams. Construction is set to commence later this year, marking a significant milestone in Apple’s longstanding commitment to Singapore as a central operations center in the region.
With Singapore serving as a pivotal hub for critical roles in software, hardware, services, and support, the new expansion underscores Apple’s dedication to fostering job creation and strengthening ties with the local community. The upgraded campus will provide ample space for growth and accommodate new roles, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and other key functions. Since its inception in 1981 with a modest team of 72 employees, Apple’s presence in Singapore has flourished, boasting a workforce of over 3,600 employees and supporting more than 60,000 jobs through direct employment, its supply chain, and the iOS app economy.
Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed pride in the company’s deep connection with Singapore and emphasized the significance of the growing campus in shaping its future endeavors. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the expanded campus will operate entirely on renewable energy, aligning with Apple’s broader efforts to reduce its environmental footprint. Moreover, the company’s dedication to renewable energy extends globally, with all of its facilities powered by 100% renewable energy since 2018. This commitment reflects Apple’s broader mission to lead by example in corporate sustainability practices and underscores its vision for a greener, more sustainable future.
