When you step into Bites & Brews, it’s like entering a maximalist’s fantasy – Peranakan-style window frames, floral motifs on tiles, and rustic furniture create a charming cottage-core ambiance. As we settled in, we couldn’t help but admire the delicate water cups and handcrafted ceramics, elevating our dining experience with an artisanal touch.
Originally from Shanghai, this renowned restaurant has ventured into Singapore following its successful debut in India. Bites & Brews specializes in fusion cuisine, embodying the essence of “East meets West.” Their diverse menu showcases inventive dishes such as mapo tofu lasagna ($21), the B&B cheeseburger burger ($28) featuring kimchi jam and spicy mayo for an added kick, and a jianbing breakfast burrito ($16). The breakfast burrito was a delightful revelation, with a jianbing wrapping around a spring onion omelette, BBQ beef brisket, bean sprouts, and green chili, all united with hoisin sauce and spicy mayo. While eating the burrito proved a tad messy, with sauces and meat juices spilling out, it underscored its juiciness and flavor.
In addition to its culinary offerings, Bites & Brews boasts a selection of specialty drinks, including seven variations of lemonade and intriguing concoctions like the “tom yum” coconut drink ($12) comprising coconut water, kaffir lime, homemade lemongrass syrup, and ginger juice. The beverage menu is a testament to collaboration, exemplified by the espresso tonic ($6), where a barista expertly pulls a double shot espresso, blended skillfully with tonic water and lemon by the bartender, resulting in a refreshing cold coffee with subtle citrus notes.
With separate menus for brunch and dinner, Bites & Brews invites patrons to indulge in the full spectrum of culinary delights offered throughout the day.
