Chef Hisato Hamada, founder of WAGYUMAFIA, brings his champion-grade cuts and unparalleled culinary experience to Southeast Asia with the grand opening of the first MASHI NO MASHI store in Singapore at Guoco Midtown.
Renowned for serving the world’s first 100% wagyu ramen, MASHI NO MASHI (meaning “more and more”) has captivated diners worldwide with its innovative, premium wagyu offerings which have sold out pop-up sessions in major capital cities. Today, their permanent outlets continue to make waves in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Jeddah, garnering an international cult following.
“Singapore is a city I hold close to my heart as I spent three years living here and created so many meaningful memories. In that time, it was one of the first cities to import my wagyu, and it’s where I fell in love with Singaporean street food,” Chef Hisato said. “With MASHI NO MASHI SINGAPORE, I am excited to share my love for ramen and my deep fondness for this country.”
At the heart of MASHI NO MASHI is Chef Hisato’s hand-selected Ozaki beef, prized for its rich umami flavour and subtle sweetness. Working directly with the farmers and selecting only the top 1% of the finest Kobe beef, Chef Hisato sources his wagyu from the top 20 best farmers in Japan. This exceptional ingredient takes centre stage in each item on the MASHI NO MASHI menu, which not only showcases the brand’s distinctive wagyu, but underscores Chef Hisato’s enduring love and admiration for Singapore street food culture as well.
The MASHI NO MASHI journey begins upon arrival when guests are welcomed by Mr and Mrs Mashi, depicted on vibrant neon signage preparing their signature ramen. Inside the sleek and lively 65-seater restaurant, diners can look forward to an extraordinary ramen experience set to a specially-curated DJ playlist.
MASHI NO MASHI SINGAPORE’s restaurant design and menu pay homage to Singapore culture, with a special nod to renowned local filmmaker Eric Khoo. Besides a life-size mural of Khoo dressed in a bright yellow MASHI NO MASHI T-shirt, an exclusive Wagyu Bak Kut Teh has been conjured by Chef Hisato – he was inspired by Khoo’s 2018 film Ramen Teh, and this local specialty is also one of his personal favourite local dishes. This novel offering exemplifies MASHI NO MASHI SINGAPORE’s commitment to embracing local flavours while offering innovative takes on their signature dishes. MASHI NO MASHI SINGAPORE’s edgy and casual atmosphere, along with its stellar line-up of unique creations, will have fans returning for more, living out the #slurplikeaboss motto.
